Itinerary:
Day 1: Valencia City. – Valencian Wine Tasting and Tapas
Day 2: Albufera Natural Park – The Bomb Rice, the secret of the paella
Day 3: Requena – The oldest wine region in Spain
Day 4: Valencia – Valencian Tapas
Day 5: Segorbe – Sagunto – Alboraya – Olive oil, cheeses and tigernuts.
Day 6: Valencia. Goodbye.
Arrive to Valencia. Transfer to the hotel. Meet and greet the sommelier guide at the hotel. Go out for dinner in an alternative way, first learn about Valencian wines through a tasting session and after this you will experience the joy of eating local tapas (small dishes of typical recipes). Return to the hotel.
The Albufera is a lake separated from the sea by dunes and surrounded by rice fields. Here you will have the chance to enjoy a paella class where you will discover all the secrets to prepare this recipe under the guidance of our paella-master in a perfect location in the middle of the rice crops of Albufera. After the class and lunch you will take a short boat ride and you will learn all about the cultivation of the rice. Because rice has always had an important part to play in Valencia life. For centuries this has been one of the area´s major exports, as well as the mainstay of regional cuisine. We return to Valencia, evening free and night´s accommodation.
Departure to one of the interior counties of Valencia, Utiel Requena, the most important wine-producing region where the Bobal is a supreme grape variety. Here our first visit will be to the original underground caves of Requena village that were used as wine cellars amongst other purposes. Afterwards, we will visit the first winery, where you will try a selection of wines followed by a delightful lunch in a local restraurant. Ending with a second winery with another selection of wines. Return to Valencia, evening free and night´s accommodation.
Tapas in Spain means little dish or a small starter that normally friends & family share. This is the objective today, prepare some tapas and enjoy them. Here you will have the chance to learn how to use the ingredients to prepare delicious bites. Afterwards you will have free time to discover Valencia by yourself.
Segorbe is located in the north of Valencia, in the heart of a natural park known as the millenary olive trees; here you will discover the oil museum with a tasting session, the history of this medieval city and small bites of local products. Then we will stop in Almenara, in a shop of an artisan cheese factory, here you will taste some of the delightful cheeses of Valencia.
Afterwards, we will go directly to Sagunto where we will combine Roman, Moorish and Jewish history with a wonderful food and wine pairing menu. Once we have visited this great spot, we will take you to an authentic ‘Valencian orchard’. Here you will see the type of agriculture that Valencia is based on and also the most famous organic drink that the region is known for: The Horchata, made of tigernuts, water and sugar. We return to Valencia, evening free and a night´s accommodation.
